Marie Murray-Arthur, first life member at RFT

We are proud to announce the awarding of our first Life Membership to Marie Murray- Arthur for outstanding service to the organisation over many years. In accepting her award, Marie stated:” I really haven’t done much! I am not sure I really deserve this honour”

The Chairman of the Board, Mr Ian Munday, in presenting the award stated: “Marie has been an excellent ambassador not only for RFT but for those less fortunate, and has always shown compassion and empathy to our clients over many years.”

Marie became a member of the Southern Regional Committee for the newly formed Richmond Fellowship in 1989, & latterly joined the Board where she accepted the role of regional vice president. During her time on the Board, Marie chaired a number of Board Sub Committees including the Quality Improvement Committee.  She became a mentor to staff in the early days when the not-for-profit organisation established their programs in Rokeby & Glenorchy.

She stepped down from this role in 2012 to become acting CEO for a period of 5 months while RFT recruited for the permanent position. On resuming her position back on the Board, Marie remained active for a further 3 years until her retirement in 2015.  Ian Munday says: “RFT has been a stronger organisation for her presence and I am delighted she has accepted our first Life Membership and that she will continue her association with RFT for many years to come”
