Mental Health Nurse

Position Overview 

Mental Health Nurses working in this program deliver evidence-based mental health nursing and clinical care coordination services for adults with complex and severe mental illness in a primary care setting that complement and enhance existing General Practice, Psychiatrist or allied mental health professional service available through the Medicare Benefits. Nurses work within a stepped care model, with a key component of the role being the assessment and management of clinical risk for participants living in the community. 

Completion of Mental Health Nurse Credentialing is a requirement of working within this program. Mental Health Nurses must be credentialled within the first 12 months of employment or have obtained significant progress towards credentialing.
