TasRec and Just Move Program
TasRec creates and provides links to a diverse range of community-based recreational and social activities, events, and opportunities for skill building and creative expression, all with a focus on enjoyment and wellbeing. The TasRec philosophy is all about inclusion, building connections, increasing confidence and self-esteem, and having fun!
We run four x 11-week programs throughout the year with some activities continuing all year round while others change with the seasons, providing a broad range of ongoing favourites and fresh opportunities throughout the year. All our programs and activities are open to anyone with a lived experience of mental ill-health.

TasRec programs and activities include:
Cooking: Patrick Street, Mowbray or Ulverstone
Learning basic cooking skills, following recipes, buying ingredients and cooking on a budget!
Art Therapy: Patrick Street, Mowbray or Ulverstone
Open art groups including print, ceramics, painting, drawing and sculpture.
Sewing, basket making, quilting and jewellery making.
Bushwalking: Various locations around Hobart, Launceston, Ulverstone and Devonport
A different walk each week followed by tea and coffee!
Dirt Club: Glenorchy
Help create a beautiful garden space for yourself and others to share or grow your own herbs and vegetables.
Skilling It!: Patrick Street
Sessions will include barista lessons, CPR, computer skills, interviewing techniques and CV writing.
Yoga: Patrick Street
Yoga and mindfulness with a qualified yoga for trauma recovery instructor.
Social Group: Patrick Street
A chance to socialise, play pool, board games, karaoke and have a coffee and a chat!
Sports Activities: Ulverstone
In conjunction with Reclink playing soccer, frisbee, cricket and indoor options if raining.
Just Move Exercise Circuits: Rosny, Glenorchy, Huonville, Launceston, Ulverstone
Circuit based exercise program led by an exercise physiologist or personal trainer for all abilities levels.
Just Move is an exercise program for participants with lived experience of mental ill-health and now runs as part of the TasRec program. It is a structured exercise program run by Exercise Physiologists and Personal Trainers in a private gym facility to allow for maximum privacy and safety of all participants.
The sessions run for one hour and consist of circuit-based movements that will be tailored to suit all ability levels. Support workers or family members are encouraged to attend the sessions with the participants.
Anyone with a diagnosed mental health condition may join one of the Just Move groups. Further referral information can be found below. We’ll just need to get some details, including your medical information before you start.
